Foundation paper piecing is the easiest way to get started with patchwork quilting. Why? You don't need to worry about paper templates, and cutting precise pieces of fabric. With foundation paper piecing, you have your block printed on a piece of paper with the pieces numbered in the order that you will stitch them. This method is often used for crazy patchwork blocks, and most commonly for log cabins. Here are a few of my choice tutorials that you can follow for success using this method. You can read about my approach in a blog post, and the blocks in the Block Barn use a variation close to my metod as well.
