Foundation Paper Piecing
Foundation paper piecing (FPP) is a quilting technique that uses a paper foundation to stabilize the fabric pieces as they are sewn together. The paper is then removed after the block is complete, leaving a perfectly pieced block.
FPP is a very accurate method of piecing, which is especially useful for piecing unusual or awkward shapes and achieving crisp, clean lines in your patchwork. It is also a great way to work with small fabric pieces, as the paper foundation helps to keep them in place.
