What you need

Skill-level:  Beginner

To make one block you will need:

  • Tear-away stabilizer or wash-away stabilizer.  I prefer tear-away for my patchwork blocks because wash-away stabilizer will distort when using a steam iron to press multiple blocks in a patchwork design.
  • Fabric glue
  • Scrap fabric for the patchwork
  • Thread to match the fabric
  • Purple Thang (optional) to help keep the hopping foot from getting caught in the folds.  An awl will also do the job.
  • Mini iron (optional) to press the patches as you stitch them.
